Southgate took charge of the England national team in 2016 and during his tenure, has guided them to the last-four stage of a major tournament thrice and helped reach back-to-back European Championship finals. While they missed out on winning the title last time after going down against Italy, the Three Lions will hope to cross the line this time around and end their 58-year-long trophy drought in men's football.

WHAT GARETH SOUTHGATE SAID

Speaking to BBC Sport, the English coach said: "Emotionally it would be impossible for me to make a logical decision at the moment on any of that because my sole focus for two years has been winning this tournament.

"The last five or six weeks have been an absolute rollercoaster, so I don't really know where I am with anything other than very focused on preparing the team for this game and determined to keep leading them in the way we have over the last month."
