The Blues created English history with a 2-0 win at Blackpool on Wednesday, thanks to goals from Ethan Laird and Alfie May. After the 45th match of the 2024-25 campaign, Birmingham now have 108 points to their name, the most in a single professional season in English football. They broke the previous record held by Reading, who recorded 106 points in their Championship-winning campaign in the 2005-06 season.

Last Sunday, they had broken League One's points tally after their 4-0 win over Mansfield. Wolves had earlier held the record of registering 103 points in the 2013-14 season. Birmingham returned to the Championship within a season of going down from the English second tier.
