City continue to remain admirers of Guimaraes, with Pep Guardiola's side still expected to strengthen in midfield this summer. However, City could instead focus their attention on Euro 2024 star Dani Olmo, who is also being heavily pursued by Barcelona. Guimaraes, meanwhile, could be named team captain of Newcastle if Kieran Trippier leaves, with club skipper Jamaal Lascelles sidelined with a long-term injury.
