At one point in time, Bayern were very close to re-appointing Julian Nagelsmann as their new head coach but earlier this week it was reported that the 36-year-old – who is currently in charge of the German national team – has decided to sign a new contract with DFB. The Bavarian side also tried to sign Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen, however, the Spaniard decided to stay back at the club after guiding them to a historic first-ever Bundesliga title win.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID
With Naglesmann and Alonso out of the picture, there has been speculation about the Bavarian side making a U-turn on Tuchel as reports emerged that the club could consider retaining the former Chelsea coach's services.
Addressing the rumour, Eberl told , "The decision was made beforehand. But it was made together. That's why we don't need to discuss it. I really enjoy working with Thomas."
Tuchel had clarified that there is no way he would stay back at Allianz Arena beyond this season as he told reporters, "I have an agreement with the club, it has been communicated and it stands."
